Financial Inclusion Project

Money Advice Worker

Are you having problems managing your finances?

  • Difficulty paying your rent?
  • Debt spiralling out of control?
  • Cant find affordable credit?
  • Would you like some help working out your monthly budget?

Port of Leith Housing Association working in partnership with Citizens Advice Edinburgh is now providing a money advice service targeting new tenants. This new service gives advice that is:

  • Free
  • Impartial
  • Confidential
  • Independent

The aim of the project is to advice tenants on benefits, debt, energy efficiency and energy bills and the services of Credit Unions and other banking and financial services.

The Money Advice Worker can:

  • Draw up agreed budgeting plans with clients.
  • Help negotiate the rescheduling of debt (freeze interest and other charges where appropriate).
  • Identify the scope of benefit entitlement and facilitate full benefit uptake.
  • Provide mentoring and advice on personal financial management.
  • Provide energy efficiency advice and information on local schemes to lower costs to tenants.
