New street brings more affordable homes to Edinburgh
This month we handed over the keys to 23 beautiful homes for social rent in Edinburgh’s vibrant neighbourhood of Abbeyhill.
We worked alongside property developer Bellway and architects EMA to create a total of 31 affordable homes, including eight homes for mid market rent.
Built around a new internal street, Elsie Inglis Way, the south east facing one and two- bedroom homes enjoy striking views of city landmarks including Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill.
The new homes were made possible thanks to an investment of £3.7m by PoLHA which included Scottish Government grant funding of £1.76m.
The completion of the project was marked with a visit to the site by Port of Leith Housing Association Chief Executive, Keith Anderson, and Chair, Margaret O’Connor.
Keith Anderson, Chief Executive, Port of Leith Housing Association said:
“It always feels very rewarding to come and see the end result of our development projects and these stunning new homes are certainly no exception. With breath-taking views and an excellent finish, they are sure to make for very happy homes. It’s with great pride that we welcome customers to such brilliant new places to call home.”
Abbey Lane’s new residents will benefit from close proximity to Holyrood Park, great transport links, cafes, live music venues and a retail park all within a stone’s throw from the development.
